JS Cosmetic & TCM Clinic · Traditional Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture and herbal medicine

The foundation of everything at the clinic: classical acupuncture and individually prescribed herbal formulas, from a practitioner trained at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.

Acupuncture needles placed on the neck and shoulders

People often come for

  • Neck, shoulder and back pain
  • Pain and stiffness after a car accident
  • Headaches
  • Colds that linger or keep coming back
  • Digestive discomfort
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Ongoing fatigue and stress

Diagnosis the traditional way

A first visit covers your health history, then pulse and tongue assessment. From this Janice decides whether acupuncture, herbs or both make sense for you.

Treatments

01

Acupuncture

Planned around your own history and constitution rather than a fixed protocol. Needles are single-use and very fine.

02

Herbal medicine

Individually prescribed formulas, adjusted as your condition changes.

03

Pain treatment

Acupuncture for neck, shoulder, back and knee pain, headaches, and stiffness from desk work or strain. Janice checks where the pain comes from and how long you have had it before planning treatment.

04

Colds

Acupuncture and herbal medicine for cough, sore throat, congestion, chills and body aches, and for colds that linger or keep coming back.

05

Car accident recovery

Acupuncture for neck, shoulder and back pain, headaches and stiffness that follow a collision. If you have an ICBC claim, mention it when you book and ask about coverage.

If you have a diagnosed condition or take prescription medication, please mention it when you book. For a high fever, trouble breathing, or sudden severe pain, see a physician first.

How a visit works

  1. Consultation

A detailed conversation about your health history, your concern and what you hope to change.

  2. Assessment

Traditional pulse and tongue assessment, and a look at sleep, digestion, stress and your cycle.

  3. Your plan

Janice explains what she recommends, how often, and what to realistically expect before anything begins.

Frequently asked questions

Does acupuncture hurt?
